As always, here is the list of all of the 30 day challenge I am doing at the moment.
I suppose, today’s prompt is, once again, a creative so here goes.
She woke up with a start, feeling disorientated by the unfamiliar sight of a wooden drawer. She frowned, a bit confused, until she remembered that she was in England, London specifically. Only then did she allow herself to relax.
It was only because she wanted to reach for her phone did she realise that she was holding onto something.
There was a key gripped tightly in her hand.
Her brows furrowed. She recognised the key, obviously, but why on Earth was she holding it? She must have taken it out yesterday and fell asleep before putting it back…?
A pecking sound could be heard by the window so she had to get out of bed. She put the gold key on the table before letting a brown owl in.
“‘Morning to you too,” she pet the familiar owl after she had retrieved the letter. Mirza still hadn’t taken off so she knew he was waiting for her reply to take back with him.
She quickly opened and read the letter before laughing to herself a little.
So impatient as always.
She quickly grabbed a pen before scribbling down her answer and sending it off with the owl.
Right, time to get ready if she didn’t want to be late to her breakfast.
It had been quite a few years since she was last in England. She missed the country and she hoped that some of her professors would be free to meet up during this school holiday. She even brought her old house scarf with her for old time sake even if it wasn’t cold enough to wear.
But first, she wanted to go check out her vault in Gringotts. Well, after breakfast anyway.
Her trip companion wasn’t too happy that she decided to not stay at the Leaky Cauldron. She had always loved the modern, Muggle part of London so she thought she’d enjoy it during this trip.
A full English breakfast down at the wizarding pub wasn’t a bad replacement from the breakfast at the Great Hall, so she would be happy to settle for that. There was a nice big cup of tea with her name on it too.
She made sure that she got everything in her bag, including the key to her Gringotts key. It wouldn’t do them any good if she had forgotten and had to come back for it.
She quickly navigated through the busy street before turning to Charing Cross Road. A familiar sign came into view not long after and she couldn’t stop the smile on her face as she entered.
It made her feel nostalgic, going into the Leaky Cauldron.
How many holidays had she spent here while she was at school in the UK?
How many days out with her friends had she grabbed a quick meal or a Butterbeer before, or after, a day spent in Diagon Alley?
She might not have been born here but this country was her home for 7 years.
It was good to be back.
Day 22 —You wake up with a key gripped tightly in your hand. How did you get this key? What does it lock or unlock?
I came up with the idea that the key is a Gringotts key because I’m a Harry Potter fangirl and I can write whatever I want for my writing challenge xD
I loved having this opportunity to explore the ‘other me’ who did go to Hogwarts and what her story may be like. So yeah, this one wasn’t too difficult 🙂
A very busy day at work today so I won’t ramble on too much. Feeling sleepy now too, lol, but will have to get on with tomorrow’s entry because I won’t be back till pretty late tomorrow…
PS – the cold is actually getting better towards the end of today. My nose was really stuffy this morning but it’s stop running now! xD Thank goodness for small mercies…
PPS – There were dumplings available for lunch today. So. Good. I’m loving dumplings more and more now!
